CLIMATE & HUMAN HEALTH CONFERENCE

If you are interested in learning about climate change the Science and Environment Council is sponsoring a Climate and Human Health Conference. It will take place at USF Sarasota-Manatee on Nov 14 and 15. This is an important and timely opportunity to deepen our collective understanding of climate impacts on health—right here in our community.

The conference will feature an impressive lineup of experts addressing critical topics such as climate and mental health, the health impacts of sea-level rise, and climate-related diseases. We’re thrilled to welcome esteemed speakers, including Dr. Jack Wazen, Dr. Kathryn Lago, and leaders like Teri Hansen, President and CEO of the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation. Their insights promise to be both informative and inspiring, tackling the most pressing issues we face in our fields.

We’re also proud to showcase local experts such as Bob Bunting, Stu Waterman, and Ric Kearbey, whose expertise and dedication to climate science are at the heart of our community’s resilience efforts.

Additionally, we’ll be joined by David Altig, Executive Vice President and Chief Economic Adviser of the US Federal Reserve Bank Atlanta, who will bring a unique economic perspective to the conference’s discussions—an essential viewpoint as we consider the wider impacts of climate health on our society.

Attending this conference not only supports vital, relevant work for our region but also reinforces our shared commitment to understanding and addressing climate impacts. Let’s join together to advance these essential conversations and drive impactful change.
