Are your stormwater ponds covered in unsightly algae or plagued with costly eroding banks? If so, we can help.
The Healthy Pond Collaborative (HPC) is a partnership with START, the Sarasota County NEST Program the Manatee County Department of Natural Resources, the University of Florida IFAS Extension, the Suncoast Waterkeeper and the Science and Environment Council of Southwest Florida. Funded by the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, the HPC provides interested communities with free advice on how to keep their stormwater ponds healthy and offers grants to buy the native aquatic plants necessary for a successful pond enhancement program.
The HPC has visited over 100 pond communities in the past two years in Sarasota and Manatee Counties and funded the planting of over 15 miles of new pond shoreline as shown above. To take advantage of this valuable resource, contact Lonnie Ready with START at firstname.lastname@example.org.
