After the last hurricane season that produced an alarming amount of flooding, many of our local communities that are participants in the Healthy Pond Collaborative are very glad they have worked to support the health of their stormwater detention ponds. The ponds with an established No Mower Zone and an array of aquatic plants protecting the banks generally fared much better than ponds with turf cut all the way to the water and few if any in-water plants.
