Current Conditions
Over the past week, the red tide organism, Karenia brevis, was observed at background concentrations in nine samples collected from Northwest Florida and very low concentrations in one sample collected from Florida’s East Coast.
Additional details are provided below.
- In Southwest Florida over the past week, K. brevis was not observed.
- In Northwest Florida over the past week, K. brevis was observed at background concentrations in and offshore of Okaloosa County, and in Walton, Bay, and Gulf counties.
- Along the Florida East Coast over the past week, K. brevis was observed at very low concentrations in one sample from Brevard County.
Fish Kills
No fish kills suspected to be related to red tide were reported to FWC’s Fish Kill Hotline or other partners over the past week.
Respiratory Irritation
Respiratory irritation suspected to be related to red tide was not reported over the past week
