Red Tide Status 03-23-12

As of March 23, 2012, the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute reports : Karenia Brevis, the Florida red tide organism, was not detected in water samples collected this week alongshore of Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte counties or alongshore of the Florida Keys (southern Monroe County). One sample collected each in Lee and Collier counties contained background concentrations of K. brevis.
