The Florida red tide organism, Karenia brevis, persists along Sarasota and Charlotte counties in Southwest Florida.
Over the past week, K. brevis was observed at background to very low concentrations in 6 samples collected from Sarasota County and background concentrations in 1 sample collected from Charlotte County.
Additional samples collected throughout Florida over the past week did not contain K. brevis.
Fish kills and respiratory irritation were not reported in Southwest Florida over the past week.
