The Florida red tide organism, Karenia brevis, was present in Southwest Florida over the past week.
In Southwest Florida, K. brevis was observed at very low to low concentrations in three samples collected from Pinellas County, background to low concentrations in seven samples collected from Manatee County, background concentrations in three samples collected from Sarasota County, and background concentrations in one sample collected from Collier County.
Additional samples collected throughout Florida over the past week did not contain K. brevis.
